AI Token Calculator is a free tool for counting tokens and estimating real AI API costs across GPT, Claude, Gemini, DeepSeek, Mistral, Grok and Llama. It runs entirely in your browser, so your prompts are never uploaded, and every price links to an official source with a verification date.
Why this site exists
The tool was built by Seif Amara, a developer who kept needing to answer the same question: “how many tokens is this prompt, and what will it actually cost?” Existing tools were either tied to a single provider or showed prices with no source. This site fixes both: a single calculator across every major provider, with every price verified against the official pricing page and timestamped.
How we earn your trust
- Source-backed pricing. Every price links to the provider’s official pricing page and shows a verification date.
- Honest estimates. OpenAI counts are exact; everything else is a clearly labeled estimate, never presented as exact.
- Privacy by default. All counting happens locally in your browser. Pasted text is never sent to a server.
- Documented method. Our methodology and fact-checking policy state exactly how numbers are produced.
Corrections and updates
Prices are checked and updated regularly. If you spot an error or a missing model, the fastest path is an email to hello@ai-token-calculator.com with a link to the official source. Corrections get logged in the changelog.
